The Pre-Kindergarten Program is an exciting place for children, who are 4 years of age by October 1, to grow and to learn the skills needed to move on to Kindergarten. The highly-qualified Pre-K staff utilizes a combination of the Public Pre-K Curriculum, the Creative Curriculum, and DLC’s hands-on fun thematic units to design meaningful lessons and activities. Lesson plans are carefully thought out and adapted to the children's individual needs and abilities. The teachers use fun thematic units to introduce the children to learning topics, holidays, language and pre-reading skills, basic math concepts, science, and more. Each child will experience many hands-on, age-appropriate activities, which will assist them in acquiring the early learning and social skills they need to succeed in their later years of schooling. Each child will participate daily in the following activities: circle time, music & movement, art, story time, language, math, science/social studies, and outdoor play (weather permitting).
